The next edition of RAW magazine will be devoted to the entire Austin leaving WWE fiasco and to say that Austin probably won't be happy when he reads it is a fair statement. The cover of the magazine has Austin in his trademark t-shirt, but replacing "What?", WWE has airbrushed in the word "Why?". The piece will be promoted as the "real" or "untold" story behind Austin's leaving.
According to sources, this is just an extension of the articles that were posted on WWE.com right after Steve Austin left WWE. One of the key features in the magazine is WWE superstars commenting on their feelings toward Austin's actions. Also included in the magazine, is a sidebar feature on the alleged domestic situation that involved Steve Austin and his wife Debra, at their home in San Antonio last month.
As you will be able to tell, the piece is very "anti-Austin" and the general consensus is that Vince McMahon wanted the issue put together like that as he is still angry and hurt by the way Steve Austin handled the whole situation when he walked out on the company last month.

Doctors are claiming Bret Hart may have suffered the stroke while he was riding his bicycle, not as a result of him landing badly on his back and neck. At first it was believed that he suffered severe neck and head damage that caused half his body to be paralyzed due to wrecking his bike. For the most part, that is still considered the reason. However, a few doctors are under the impression that the accident on the bike didn't have much to do with it.
Disco Inferno was set to be Vince Russo's creative assistant when Russo got his job back with World Wrestling Entertainment. In fact, Disco Inferno had been claiming the deal was done for him and Russo both, but everything is pretty much up in the air now that Russo no longer works for the company.
Ric Flair missed RAW a few weeks ago because management basically wrote him out of storylines due to a change in plans. Apparently WWE wanted Ric Flair to fill Austin's s h*es as top active babyface on the RAW roster. Flair was unwilling to work 20 dates per month as he felt his body couldn't hold up to it even if he tried and he did not desire going on the road that much. Plans for Flair now are pretty much up in the air. Short-term, Flair will continue as a wrestler for most of the television and pay-per views while creative comes up with something else for him.

Ric Flair On Radio: Speaks On RAW, Women's Division; More Story By: Matthew Boone July 11, 2002
Ric Flair was a guest on Seattle's 107.7 The End's Andy Savage, Steve The Producer and Jodi morning show, this morning.
On the show, Flair plugged the upcoming WWE RAW that is coming to Seattle on August 12th, but Andy Savage got the date wrong by saying that RAW was at Key Arena on Saturday. Flair then corrected him.
Jodi asked Flair if he knew Jackie Gayda, as well as mentioning that he thinks that she is bringing down teh entire women's division. Flair replied by saying that he had met Jackie, but hasn't seen her in the ring as of yet.
Steve The Producer then asked if Flair ever got into his TV character persona when he was mad at his kids. Flair laughed at the comment and said no.
Steve The Producer then asked Flair to cut a promo on him, which Flair then did. Flair then again put over the Aug. 12 RAW in Seattle and Saturday's autograph signing.
Flair ended the interview by hitting on Jodi. Flair told Jodi "Space Mountain may be the oldest ride in the park, but is has the longest line."

Rock's Return/Ratings, Austin's Revenge; Vengeance Ads, more Story By: Matthew Boone July 11, 2002
It is expected that the WWE will be watching the final rating for tonight's SmackDown! very carefully. With the emotion surrounding the Rock's return, it is hoped that the rating will be improved upon.
This has been a subject that many journalists have written about during the past few weeks: Steve Austin's place in the Vengeance commercials. Apparently this situation cannot be helped and the WWE owes some form of a disclaimer at least on the pre-game show and on Heat next Sunday.
Many believe last year's advertisement that centered around the return of Triple H was a bad idea by the WWE, especially since he did not appear, even though he was at the show. The general consensus right now is that the WWE should be bending over backwards to make sure the casual audience aren't left with a bad taste in their mouths.
It is expected that many people who see the ads will immediately deduce that Austin will return for revenge on McMahon, a situation that is very unlikely to pan out given the current state of affairs between the two parties. The WWE cannot afford further setbacks with fans being unhappy, which will be the case if they are falsely lead to believe Austin is returning at the pay-per view. Another significant drop in viewing would be disastrous for the company, not to mention morale backstage, which is already low.

HBK Suing Over Racism Allegations, 2 New WWE Signings Story By: Matthew Boone July 12, 2002
Thanks to MoneyMan521 for the following:
The Wrestle Wrap-Up show on KLAV 1230 in Las Vegas revealed a few new things:
WWE has signed 2 new developmental wrestlers. PJ Will, an Indy wrestler from Boston, who many in the WWE have compared to Ricky Steamboat, has been sent to OVW and a female Indy wrestler from California who went by the name "Miss Toy" has been sent to HWA.
Local Las Vegas Indy wrestler Nick Venom was in a serious car crash and is now in a coma at UNLV hospital. His prognosis will be clear in the next few days.
The hosts discuss the humiliating display by Jackie Gayda. They discuss how she really needs to develop her in-ring skills and not solely rely on her massive breasts.
Shawn Michaels is considering legal action against the 3 host of the show for calling him a racist in their interview last week. The hosts laughed at Michaels saying he's a crybaby.
The show ends with a soundbite promoting an interview with former WWE head-writer Vince Russo to take place Friday.
Overall, a very brief show today.

Backstage WWE News: Steve Austin/Undertaker, Stephanie McMahon, & More Story By: Matthew Boone July 12, 2002
Backstage WWE News: Austin/Undertaker, Stephanie, & More
Several wrestlers feel Brian Gewirtz is the cancer of the WWE writing staff. Many believe while he is to be credited for coming up with a lot of Rock and Booker T promos and things of that comedic nature, he writes his segments to please Vince McMahon, and not the WWE audience.
Wrestlers were surprised when Undertaker told the WWE website crew in a recent interview that he and Steve Austin are not friends. A few of the wrestlers backstage felt it was Undertaker laying the ground work for a future program with Austin since he and Austin are considered friends.
More than one wrestler backstage in WWE is laughing at how young and immature the current WWE writing staff are. Those same wrestlers joke that the writing team is so young because Stephanie McMahon would feel uncomfortable being their boss than she would with people older than her.

Kevin Nash Speaks On His Injury, Retirement, & More Story By: Matthew Boone July 12, 2002
Kevin Nash tore his quadriceps muscle on Monday at RAW during the 10-man tag match. The 7-foot WWE superstar is on the road to rehab and the thought of retirement has not even become an option in his mind.
“I tore it pretty clean, but I tore it pretty bad. I did a helluva job. Anyone who heard my scream on TV can attest to that,” said Nash, who has yet to see the footage of his injury on RAW. “One of the doctors said that while Andrews was working on it, he was shocked at how it looked, that it looked like a mess.”
When asked how the injury occured, Nash said: “All I know is, I went to hit Bubba, and then what happened, whether I stepped on Earl or Booker, I have no idea. I know I stepped on something that made me plant wrong and blow my quad."
Nash spoke with HHH who suffered a similar injury last year. "Hunter was amazed that I walked out, with the help of crutches, the first day after the surgery,” Nash said. “The next day (Wednesday), it really swelled up and I could barely move. Thursday, I’ve been in a lot of pain." On the road to recovery, Nash commented: “Hunter kind of informed me what I was going to be going through over the next couple of months,” Nash said. “If you want to come back from an injury like this, you almost have to isolate yourself to a world of rehab. And as of right now, that’s what I’m doing.”
“It’s a long road back; I know that. But I am not a quitter. No way am I retiring. That was not my last match,” Nash said. “Anyone who thinks I’m gonna call it quits after this doesn’t know me.” He paused, then, with a laugh, added, “I’ve got way too much more s --- to stir in that locker room and way too many young kids to hold down," Nash said jokingly.

Official WWE RAW Preview - RVD's Revenge, HHH/nWo! Story By: Matthew Boone July 12, 2002
The following is from the official RAW website:
Rob Van Dam isn't the type of guy to forgive and forget.
Last week on RAW, the Intercontinental Champion suffered a brutal attack by Brock Lesnar during a 10-man tag team match featuring RVD. The Next Big Thing went so far as to smash RVD with the F5 on the steel entrance beneath the TitanTron!
Will RVD let his anger simmer until he meets Brock on July 21 at Vengeance, or will Mr. Monday night have something in store for the WWE newcomer and his agent, Paul Heyman soon? Find out Monday night during RAW at 9 p.m. ET!
Also, the nWo issued an ultimatum to Triple H, but suffered a huge setback with Kevin Nash tearing a quadriceps. How will this feared faction recover?
One thing's for sure, with WWE back in the tri-state area, this episode of RAW is sure to have some surprises in it. Don't miss RAW, Monday at 9/8 CT on TNN, live from Continental Airlines Arena!

SmackDown! Ratings - Rock's Return Doesn't Help At All Story By: Matthew Boone July 12, 2002
WWE SmackDown! rating for this past Thursday came in at an awful 3.3. That ties the mark for the seventh lowest rating in SmackDown! history.
You can argue all you want about competition on Thursday nights, but everything was in reruns for the most-part and you can't use the 4th of July excuse this week.
Rock's return was promoted the same, if not more, than his return last year in Philidelphia that spiked RAW rating well up. Last night, plain and simple, there was not much interest in people turning on UPN to watch SmackDown! despite The Rock's heavily promoted return.

Steiner Injured Again, Jericho's New Vengeance Match, more Story By: Matthew Boone July 12, 2002
Rick Steiner took a pretty bad bump at the debut NWA-TNA pay-per view almost a month ago. When he was tossed over the top rope during the "Gauntlet for the Gold" match, he landed awkwardly and suffered internal bleeding. He spent five days in the hospital and the injury was considered pretty serious. He is now better and will be working tag-matches with his brother Scott in Japan soon.
Chris Jericho's new match for Vengeance will most likely be against the rookie sensation on the SmackDown! brand, John Cena. For those unaware, Jericho was originally scheduled for a match against Edge at Vengeance, but that has since been changed to Edge/Hogan defending the tag-titles against Lance Storm and Christian.

Latest On Sting Coming To WWE And Future Plans Story By: Will Hengelbrok July 13, 2002
As an update on the status of Sting for anyone who has thoughts about him returning to wrestling and making a debut in the WWE, there were talks in creative last year about Sting on several occasions, one being during the summer while the WCW Invasion angle was going on, and then again as a potential angle for Wrestlemania. The talks didn't go far at all because Sting wasn't at all interested in the schedule that he was presented. They never even went as far as to talk about how he would e used for money or any other issue due to him not showing any interest.
Many are now under the impression that no serious discussions regarding Sting coming to the WWE have been made since November of last year. Sting hasn't wrestled since WCW closed on March 26, 2001, and to add to that, he pretty much announced his retirement from pro wrestling a couple of months ago. He did, however, mention that there is always the possibility that he would come back to do it again but he said he wasn't sure if he would. Just about every upcoming promotion has had talks with Sting, including the NWA:TNA, XWF, and others, but he has made it clear that he is not at all interested in any type of position that requires an excessive amount of travel.
