Interview With Kanyon: Nearly Dies/Injuries, More
- WWE.com recently conducted an interview with former WCW star, and up incoming WWE star Kanyon. The interview talks about Kanyon’s recent injury problems which has plagued his WWE status. Kanyon also talks about him almost dying in July and much more. Below is a preview of the interview, you can read the rest at WWE.com.
WWE: It's been about a month and a half since you wrote that commentary. What's been going on since then?
Kanyon: When I wrote the commentary I had just kind of gotten over the hump of getting rid of my fever. I had just started to be able to sleep well again. I hadn't put on any of the weight at the time. When I got out of the hospital, I was 208 pounds, and I went in at 240. So I lost about 30 pounds in a week. Since then I've put pretty much all the weight back on. I'm probably around 235, so I still want to put on five or 10 more. I've been able to get back in the gym and get back in decent shape. I saw the doctor last Tuesday, and he cleared me medically to return into the ring on Sept. 30. At which time they'll probably send me up to Louisville again, to OVW (Ohio Valley Wrestling). I'll probably do a couple of weeks up there just to get back into ring shape. I'll hopefully be back on TV in mid-October.
WWE: You've said this was your first injury in 10 years. How can that be true?
Kanyon: You get a bunch of bump and bruises. And in the early part of my career I maybe hurt a shoulder and the back. I never had to miss a booking though. I was in WCW for a little bit more than six years, and I never missed a single booking for sickness and injury. It's frustrating because I was here five months, doing real well. I was U.S. Champion and WWE Tag Champion (with Diamond Dallas Page). After five months I blew out the knee, and then just when I was ready to return, I blew out the shoulder. But in ways it motivates me to get back in there too.

WWE/Nicole Bass Trial Gets Heated! Vince Outraged
- As was reported before, Vince McMahon took the stand today to defend himself against a lawsuit filed by Nicole Bass that she was sexually harassed during her short stint with the WWF. Appearntly things got pretty heated during the case.
"You're just trying to throw dirt against the wall, trying to make something stick," said McMahon, chairman of the board for World Wrestling Entertainment. McMahon later called the lawsuit "a smear" against his company, reports today's New York Post.
McMahon spent two hours on the stand and denied any knowledge of sexual harassment of Bass. He said he hoped to make a star out of the female bodybuilder, but because she had "two left feet," he fired her after five months. "She just didn't have the coordination to develop her skills," McMahon testified. "In our business, she was not a world-class athlete."

Major Backstage Heat On Triple H For Politicking
Triple H continues to build his own reputation for being a political worker in World Wrestling Entertainment.
The latest two examples are pretty logical. HHH was the only veteran, in a period of time where new stars are trying to be built, to find someone like Shawn Michaels, to come back for one time only. While it may not make much sense to many with HHH putting HBK over, after the match HHH gained all of his heat back.
He was really frowned upon for how he cut his promo opposing Rob Van Dam on this past Monday's RAW. In a time where Triple H putting over Rob Van Dam, and putting him over big, is needed, HHH decided to work the microphone in a way that belittled RVD's babyface reaction.
WWE is in a transitional phase right now where younger talent is seemingly stepping up, but many fear that if they step up to Triple H, it will only hurt their chances of getting over despite the fact that working with Triple H would seemingly bring you up to the main event level.
A lot of wrestlers on the RAW brand are calling HHH's politics, the "HHH effect." Many superstars on the RAW brand, possibly even Jim Ross, are privately wishing they were on the SmackDown! brand because of the HHH Effect.

Latest Details On Kevin Nash's Injury Progress
Kevin Nash is now able to walk without crutches or a leg brace without feeling any serious pain.
Nash has spent the last several weeks in Daytona Beach, Florida with his family.
Nash recently attended an outdoor art-fair and was able to walk around for a few hours without any complaints other than the weather.
He has been working hard in the gym, and is able to leg press 320 pounds for 20 reps naturally. Nash said he feels he could do 100 reps if he wanted to.
Nash feels like he is back on schedule to return from a badly torn quadriceps muscle that he injured back on July 9.

Unforgiven Match Changes, Stephanie McMahon Update, & More
Rey Mysterio vs. Jamie Noble for the Cruiserweight championship, a match originally scheduled for Unforgiven, has seemed to be dropped for the pay-per view. Instead, Trish Stratus will defend the Women's championship against Molly Holly on the pay-per view.
At this point, Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker is the main-event going on last. One would assume the smarter choice would be to save RVD vs. HHH for last, as RVD has a good chance of winning the title and it's always good to end a pay-per view with the babyface prevailing. Nonetheless, at this point Lesnar and 'Taker is going on last. That could be changed 1,000 times from now until Sunday though.
Stephanie McMahon will be the guest on WWE.com's webcast, "Byte This!" today from 4:00pm - 5:30pm eastern time. You can call in your questions live at 1-888-LIVE-WWE or e-mail them at bytethis@wwe.com. It will be interesting to see if Stephanie McMahon addresses the recent column written by one of her writing team members where RAW was trashed and SmackDown! was praised.

Stone Cold/WWE Update, JR Switching Shows, WWE Shocked
The latest issue of WWE ShopZone Magazine contains no mention of Stone Cold Steve Austin, nor does it include any Austin-related products. WWE now realizes that they must try and eliminate Austin from the eyes of the fans, in case he does not return.
There is a rumor going around that Jim Ross is interested in leaving RAW to commentate for Smackdown. It is nothing but straight-up talk and speculation, but very interesting considering he always puts over Smackdown, as opposed to RAW, in his Ross Report column.
Many at WWE are shocked with what writer Brian Solomon wrote on the website, as he really spoke the truth about the problems with WWE, mainly RAW. WWE does not likely have an editor inspecting posts as there are numerous errors on that website. Thus, Solomon serves as his own editor.

Backstage News On Hulk Hogan's Future With WWE; Tension, & More
If you remember, I covered all the news surrounding the Global Warning event early last month. It was at this time that we found out Hogan and WWE had some problems.
Apparently, Hogan was upset about the fact that he would not receive a bonus for the Australian trip, as he would with a PPV. Vince felt that the show was a mere house show, and the tension prompted Hogan's name to be removed from the roster.
WWE publicly stated that Hogan would not make the tour due to back pain and that the event occurred on his birthday. Although the back injury claim is legitimate, the information about it being Hogan's birthday is not valid, since he was originally booked for the show (last I checked, your birthday doesn't suddenly change).
The current plan is for Hogan to return to WWE by year's end. It will likely be in a feud against Brock Lesnar.

WWE News & Notes: Unforgiven News/Raw, DDP = - While I was doing some research, I thought I would check out how tickets are coming along for this weeks upcoming WWE shows. Turns out tickets are still available for Unforgiven Sunday night in Los Angeles. The Staples Center can host 20 thousand plus. And as of this afternoon about 18 thousand tickets are sold. So it looks like this Sunday's PPV is not a sell out. I, Matt Postoian will be live at Raw this week so I had to checkout this one, The Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim is not quite sold out. About a thousand more tickets are left for Monday's Live event. While SmackDown! in San Diego is no where near being a sell out. If your in the Southern California area and are interested, get your tickets now.
- Diamond Dallas Page will be making an appearance at the P h*enix Championship Wrestling show on 11/2 in Point Pleasant, NJ at the Middle School. Page grew up in that city. Main event on the show will be Malice vs. Devon Storm.
- Scotty Too Hotty will be hosting the Unforgiven PPV at the World in Manhattan this Sunday night.

WWE Gets Recognized, Unforgiven Match/Raw News
- There is a news conference at 2 p.m. today in Fresno, a few hours before the WWE house show, to re-name the entry into the Fresno Convention Center parking lot "RVD Way." They are also proclaiming today "WWE Day" in Fresno because today will mark the third event held in that city this year.
- Jim Ross in yesterday's Ross Report listed a Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero match as a probable for Heat. Hopefully they'll give the guys 8-11 minutes rather than rush them through the match.
- I will be live at Raw this Monday night in Anaheim with all your backstage news and rumors. So return here for all the exclusives.

Messiah on TV, The Rocks Return, Saturn's WWE Status
- As a reminder, America's Most Wanted will be airing the segment dealing with the attack on William C. Welch (Messiah) tonight, September 21st at 9:00 p.m. on the FOX network. Involved in the story are America's Most Wanted Correspondent/Producer, Tom Morris, Jr., and Show Consultant (as well as a writer for WWE) Keith Greenburg. Included in the story will be an interview with New Jack and further information on what has already been reported, as well as major details and information on the case that have yet to be released.
- On a strange note, Rock's next movie "Helldorado" hasn't started shooting yet. An endangered species, the Bell's vireo (a tiny bird), was found last week in the San Fernando Valley where the movie was going to be shot, and the filming cannot begin until the bird leaves.
- Perry Saturn is very close to being ready to return to action. Saturn is in the last year of his current WWE contract, and his future with the company may be in question if they can’t find something to do with him.

Breaking News: A Former WCW Champion Passes Away
- Teddy Petty passed away tonight of an apparent massive heart attack.
Details are still sketchy, but it has been confirmed to me that Rocco Rock passed away about an hour ago. He wrestled against Crowbar at the Jersey City show on the first match, because Crowbar had a double shot in Elizabeth, NJ. Teddy also had a double shot for 3PW against Gary Wolfe in his first title defense of the 3PW Heavyweight title.
Teddy just celebrated his 49th Birthday on September 1st. Teddy is best known as being one half of the Public Enemy with Johnny Grunge. He was so happy about getting married on October 26th.
As soon as we get more details and arrangements, we will update

Recap: The Messiah Story on America's Most Wanted
- Last night Americas Most Wanted did a feature on wrestler The Messiah getting attacked. To open the segment they show clips of a WWE event from a feature they had last season that involved a WWE fan getting attacked.
Indy wrestling is explained, showing how wrestlers will do anything to get noticed and make it to the big time. They talk about the life of a wrestler and how most have normal day jobs and even help set up the rings themselves.
William Welch aka The Messiah is interviewed and clips of him wrestling is shown. AMW mentions he has a cult following, they show a fan with a Messiah tattoo. Welch says that fan may regret that.
The story of his attack begins. Welch was playing video games at home, he heard people come in and thought it was his friends. Turns out it was two attackers who put him in a chokehold and held him down. Then he saw garden shears, they cut his thumb clean off. He tried to getaway but was hit with a chair and a fish tank was thrown at him. He mentions they wanted to cut off his thingy, but he fought them off and they ran away.
He has no idea who the attackers were or were his thumb is. Investigators were looking at indy feds and at his the real life troubles with indy promoter Rob Black. Welch claims he and Blacks wife (porn star Lizzy Borden) had an affair.
Rob Black wouldn't comment. They show Welch coming back to indy wrestling at a tribute show set up for him. He said something like this is not going to stop him of living his dream as a professional wrestler.

John Cena/Orton, Rhyno's Return, Lesnar Leaving Heyman
The following rumors (key word) come from Blackjack Brown of the Sun Times. Take these for what they're worth:
Despite enormous potential, WWE just has not been able to give John Cena and Randy Orton large pushes to the top. However, since they do not want to waste talent, there is a rumor that the two could form a long-term tag team. With two great in-ring talents, that team could restore some dignity to the tag titles, if it indeed is formed.
Rhyno is about 90% from a WWE return, but does not want to return too soon, considering the fact that he does not want to risk another injury. Although his scheduled return date is November, if history repeats itself (HHH, Benoit) he may be out a little longer. On the other hand, WWE is looking for all the talent they can get, so they'd like Rhyno back as soon as possible.
Brock Lesnar is developing into more of a name, and it looks as if he will soon be ready to drop Heyman as a manager. Generally, Heyman is being used as an easy heat-getter for Lesnar. Whenever WWE determines they want Lesnar to work face, or comes up with a great heel angle for him (which wouldn't require Heyman as an agent/manager), chances are that Heyman will be removed from Lesnar's corner.
