The following are highlights of a WWE.com article with Jamie Noble:
There’s a reason they’re called “nagging” injuries. Just ask Jamie Noble.
Noble has been dealing with a severely swelled right ear for the last few weeks. It may not be a torn quadriceps or a broken arm, but it’s excruciatingly painful and extremely frustrating. It’s so bothersome, in fact, that Noble was sent home from the SmackDown! taping last week in Baltimore.
His right-ear problems started for the former Cruiserweight Champion when he wrestled Matt Hardy at an event two weeks ago in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
“I don’t really remember (how it happened),” he said. “But after the match, it was hurting a little bit.”
“As soon as I got through the curtain (after the match), it was swelling up,” Noble said.
SmackDown! trainer Larry Heck drained 25 cc’s of fluid (mostly blood) from the ear during the tour, but Noble wrestled all four days.
It was painful. Every time anything even grazed Noble’s ear, it hurt like hell. Even basic collar-and-elbow tie-ups were painful. Noble took Hardy’s Twist of Fate all four days, which Noble said was excruciating.
“He just wrapped my head so tight that it was making me light-headed and dizzy,” Noble said. “I had to take it off.”
Tomorrow will be the real test, as he’ll wrestle Hardy again. If the Twist of Fate doesn’t cause his ear to balloon again, he’ll know he’s on his way toward recovery. Otherwise, it’s back to square one.
