World Wrestling Entertainment has posted a transcription of an interview conducted with Shawn Michaels at the location of last night's RAW - Sacramento, California. Below are the highlights of the interview.
Shawn Michaels is "very excited" about his WrestleMania XIX match with Chris Jericho this Sunday. This will be Michaels' first WrestleMania contest in five years (he lost the then World Wrestling Federation Championship to Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XV in 1998). Michaels no longer considers his in-ring comeback, which began last year at SummerSlam, a short-term return. The Heartbreak Kid says he feels good, and that he plans on sticking around well beyond the WWE's premier event.
"I'm as much a staple in this company now as I was before," said HBK with a chuckle. "Unless they know something I don't, I don't see them getting rid of me anytime soon."
"I don’t feel like I have to be on the road every day and be in the ring every day. I've been given a very special gift. I think I showed that at SummerSlam – that I can stay out of the ring for five years, and wrestle like I have been on the road."
Michaels believes he can perform in the ring perhaps every couple of months.
Michaels addressed the rumors of a potential on-air reunion with his buddy Kevin Nash once "Big Sexy" returns from a torn quadriceps: "I think that's a natural place for me to go. Kevin and I in a tag, or throw someone else in there for a six-man. Whatever it is they want to do."
