The following is an excerpt from Matt Hardy's May 16 online commentary. To read the entire column, go to Mattitude.WWE.com.
"There is one subject that I definitely had to address in this commentary, and that is my brother, the enigmatic Jeff Hardy. Everyone was shocked to hear that Jeff and the WWE had severed ties. I can't tell you how many times in the last couple of weeks I've been asked about Jeff. Here are my thoughts on the matter. A little over a year ago, Jeff was showing signs of being burned out with the travel and stress that comes with working for WWE. When we split and Jeff was left on his own, I'm sure these issues continued to snowball. Jeff looked for other things to make him happy and keep him creative, such as music and art. Jeff is very unique, and hard for the average person to understand. He is currently in a transitional period, a crossroads, and I think he needs to decide what he really wants out of life. Jeff needs to focus on whatever it is he chooses to do and make the most of it. What will that choice be, you ask? I'm not positive, but I can't see Jeff without pro wrestling/sports-entertainment in his life in some shape or form. Jeff dictates Jeff. Not me, not WWE, not anyone else.
I know that Jeff would have loved to say "seeya later" publicly to all his dedicated fans. If nothing else, remember Jeff for all the sacrifices he made to entertain his fans. Remember all the unbelievable bumps, the ladder matches, the table matches, the hardcore matches, the TLC matches, and the risking of life and limb. I personally thank Jeff for making the journey of a lifetime with me-going from nothing to becoming WWE Superstars and champions. It's going to be strange going on without him-but I must go on. Thanks for all the memories, my brother. Hopefully, we will journey together again."
