UnAmericans Update, Limo Mystery, Jericho/Flair, & More Story By: Matthew Boone July 30, 2002
The following news is derived from Dave Scherer and 1wrestling Premium:
It looks as though WWE will ignore explaining how Chris Jericho and the UnAmericans jumped from SmackDown! to RAW when all four wrestlers were in the ring during the parking lot segment where the defectors were apparently in the limosine with Eric Bischoff. The big picture is that it was used to throw people off in hopes of it being somewhat of a shocker that it was four people that most would consider impossible as they couldn't have made it from the ring to the limo in just a few seconds.
It's considered obvious after last night's RAW that Ric Flair and Chris Jericho will be working a program heading into SummerSlam. WWE has been biting their fingernails trying to find a role considerably important to use Ric Flair in. Well, they didn't plan this one out long-term, somewhat of a hot-shot, but it looks as though we'll be seeing Jericho/Flair feud for the next few weeks.

Latest On WWE Controversy With X-Pac Story By: Matthew Boone July 30, 2002
The following news is derived from Wade Keller and the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter:
WWE has not brought back X-Pac yet due to the demise of the nWo storyline. Originally, he was on a leave of absence due to medical problems that started when he passed out in an airport on a Monday, the same Monday that Nash went down on RAW with a quadriceps tear.
He had informed WWE of everything he knew, which isn't much, as conflicting reports state X-Pac doesnt know what happened other than passing out in an airport and waking up in an emergency room. He told management he had been recently taking pain pills to ease major pain in his neck, which he has a bad history of dealing with, as well as a past addiction to pain pills which is primarily the reason WWE hasn't taken the risk of bringing X-Pac back for fear of it being too early.
In addition, X-Pac has been addressing family issues that apparently needed addressed for quite some time now. Whenever references are made of nWo on WWE television, X-Pac's name is never brought up, but Nash's is, leading many to believe they are trying to not draw attention to X-Pac at this point.

Thanks to Xploream@aol.com for sending along the following:
FOZZY RELEASES LONG-AWAITED HAPPENSTANCE
On July 30th, Fozzy unleashed their new cd, Happenstance, on Megaforce Records. The first 20,000 cd's include a signed collectible guitar pick. Each member of the band has his own pick in a different color with a total of 7 guitar picks available. Also included on the cd is a special enhanced section featuring a video, photo gallery, bios, etc. Hear lead singer Moongoose (aka Wrestling Superstar Chris Jericho) rant and rave in poetic verse as he performs his magic in front of a New York City crowd.
Fozzy will also be playing several shows kicking off the CD: August 2 at The Masquerade in Atlanta August 10 at Festival Hall in Melbourne Australia (after WWE Pay-Per View in Australia) August 23 at The World in New York City
Produced by Shawn Grove(Matchbox 20, Collective Soul), Happenstance features eleven songs with five new original songs. Recorded over three months in Atlanta, it is a continuation of the story and their return to the USA, and it also represents a major step forward in their musical life. The band will tour throughout the summer and fall months, and there will also be an extensive radio and press campaign.
WHO IS FOZZY? Fozzy is the brainchild of World Wrestling Entertainment® Superstar Chris Jericho™ and ex-Stuck Mojo's Rich Ward. Inspired by their love of heavy music, storytelling and over-the-top live performance, the Fozzy story was created to provide the music business with something that they felt was missing in today's music world, namely, "entertainment!"
Chris Jericho™ is a top wrestling star in the WWE®, where he reaches upwards of several million people every week. His charisma and persona have made him a main feature every week on various shows such as RAW and SMACKDOWN, and he can also be seen on WWF-affliated MTV shows such as Tough Enough and Sunday Night Heat.
Rich Ward is a well-known and highly respected guitarist who fronted the band, Stuck Mojo, for several years, reaching worldwide sales of 500,000 units.
Fozzy features Chris Jericho™ as the irrepressible rock god, Moongoose McQueen; guitarist Rich Ward(formerly of Stuck Mojo) as the contract reader and legal advisor, Duke Larue; the cheese-loving drummer, KK LaFlame, who's capable of naming over 100 cheeses; The Kid as the guitarist who doesn't speak, has no friends(except his parents) and has no social skills whatsoever; bassist Claude "Watty" Watson, also known as the guy with the worst haircut known to man, who incidentally beat out Paul McCartney and Susanna Hoffs (formerly of The Bangles) for this gig; and British guitar hero and the man with his own suit-of-armor, Lord Bayden Powell.

HBK Having Second Thoughts About Wrestling Story By: Matthew Boone July 31, 2002
The following news is derived from Wade Keller and the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter:
Shawn Michaels doesn't feel an urgency to get back into the ring in WWE as he feels he can still reaggrivate his old back injury, or create a whole new world of pain with a new injury, that would bring back major pains that he went through when he first hung his boots up old ago, that has since gone away pretty much allowing him to live as comfortable a life as a wrestler can live once he is done in the ring.
However, it is considered almost an inevitability that HBK will return to the ring at some point, possibly as soon as SummerSlam, against someone he trusts with his body in a match such as Triple H - which is seemingly what WWE was building up until RAW when HBK was victim of a "parking lot attack" that could change original plans for HHH/HBK to work a program, but doesn't necessarily mean that is the case as it has not been revealed who attacked HBK, and if HHH has any connection with whomever the culprit is.

Kanyon Update. Jericho/The Internet, Rey Mysterio's Mask, more Story By: Amish Patel July 31, 2002
Credit: Pro Wrestling Torch
Jeremy Lopez of NWA Wildside appeared on the Koco Sports radio show yesterday and updated the condition of WWE's Chris Kanyon. Lopez said that Kanyon has been released from the hospital and is resting at home.
Chris Jericho has made it clear he is done with the internet, but his band's label is definitely not. Megaforce Records sent a press release hyping the debut Fozzy's new album "Happenstance," which was released yesterday.
The major reason for retaining Rey Mysterio, Jr's mask was due to merchandise and marketing purposes. The WWE have already started to make plans about selling replica masks, and in general think Mysterio is more marketable with the mask on.

Stacy's Return, Goldberg's Return/Japan, More Story By: Will Hengelbrok August 01, 2002
Stacy will be re-joining the WWE crew this weekend. You might remember, she had a little bit of heat with management a few weeks back, and took some time off. Se was reportedly "burnt out" from the busy schedule that the WWE requires. The last 2 weeks has shown Dawn Marie in her spot at house shows, but now, Keibler is back.
Reportedly, Goldberg is very much against returning to the WWE at the current time. He's looking to make a big impact in other promotions, such as one in Japan. He is currently under negotiations to appear at the Toryumon Show on Sept. 8th, at the Ariake Coliseum, in Tokyo Japan. If he does appear at this show, it would mark his first appearance as a pro-wrestler in over 18 months. He doesn't intend on wrestling at this show, because of the fact that he simply wants to wait until later in the year to begin wrestling again.

Raw Changes, UnAmericans vs. Americans? Story By: Will Hengelbrok August 01, 2002
The WWE has made a huge change in recent weeks. They have actually acted as if anything other than storylines has had no effect on the company, i.e. the Austin situation. It seems even more likely that we will see the Raw vs. Nitro feud once again, which is what made wrestling what it once was.
Obviously the WWE is trying to start a Ric Flair/Chris Jericho program. Rumors are running wild that the WWE may also be putting Ric Flair with Hogan and Edge in an attempt to start some kind of stable against the UnAmericans. It would be ok to assume that the reason Jericho was brought to Raw is because the UnAmericans were also, and since it is still kind of blurry as to whether he is a part of that stable or not. This is in no way confirmed, so take it very lightly.

WWE RAW Preview - HBK Attacker; Bischoff's Next Move Story By: Ben Johnson August 02, 2002
RAW is live this Monday night from the Baltimore Arena! Catch it at 9 p.m./8 CT on the new TNN!
Who assaulted Shawn Michaels last week? The Heartbreak Kid was left unconscious and bloodied - his head apparently thrown through a car window - as he hunted down Triple H backstage. But neither the Game nor any other superstar admitted to being responsible. Michaels has been released from the hospital with a concussion and lacerations. Hopefully we will get an update on Shawn's condition and more information about the attacker this Monday night live from Baltimore.
Also, after Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero jumped to SmackDown!, what will be RAW General Manager Eric Bischoff’s next move? And SummerSlam will be less than three weeks away when RAW kicks off this Monday night. Will there be any new developments related to the biggest event of the summer?
All this and much more this Monday night live on RAW!

The Latest On The Rock's WWE Future, Angle News, Smackdown Story By: Ben Johnson August 02, 2002
The current backstage feeling on The Rock is that he truly does want to balance his movie and his wrestling careers. Although movies theoretically can offer The Rock more money and more power, The Rock feels that his movies can only be huge successes if he stays in touch with his large wrestling fan-base. However, if the next few movies for The Rock are big, he will become a movie star who occasionally wrestles, instead of a wrestler who occasionally stars in movies.
WWE sent a newsletter out to Richmond, VA subscribers. The news in them was that Smackdown for this Sunday is still not sold out, and that Kurt Angle will be making a guest appearance at Paramount Kings Dominion from 3-5 PM on Saturday.
The Smackdown rating for today came in at a 3.1, rather low, even below the poor average for the recent weeks. The show scored a 3.3 last week, so despite WWE producing high-quality television as of late, they cannot bring ratings up.

Huge Updates On Kane & Stone Cold's WWE TV Returns Story By: Ben Johnson August 02, 2002
The following comes from Michael Tearson of Philly Daily News:
Kane is expected to receive clearance to return to the ring next week. Although it is not set in stone, precedent tells us that he will be going to OVW for some training. However, WWE, being that they have developed a habit of "shock storylines", may decide to use Kane as soon as possible on TV.
Thanks to reader Gareth Chestney for the following:
Hi, last night i was watching CYBERNET on HTV (British TV channel) and it reviewed WWF - Road to Wrestlemania for the Gameboy. The show commentated on the game and also stated that "WWF not only lost their initials to the World Wildlife Fund, but they have also lost their star wrestler, Stone Cold Steve Austin, forever". Take that for what its worth, which probably isn't much considering they likely do not have inside access. The rest of the show just totally put down the game.

WWE Still Having Trouble With PTC Story By: Ben Johnson August 02, 2002
If you remember, a few weeks back a settlement between PTC and WWE was reached and dominated the wrestling news. Well, it looks like PTC still won't "get off WWE's back".
They recently compiled a list of the "worst shows on television" naming the top ten distasteful television shows.
The list features The Osbournes, Real World, Undressed, Celebrity Deathmatch, The Andy thingy Show, Witchblade, The Shield, The Man Show, Southpark, and WWE RAW. It looks as if the PTC is still taking shots at WWE, and trying to make a statement that it is too violent and inappropriate. Although they are still criticizing WWE, the settlement only prevented them from interference of WWE TV, so they cannot get in trouble, but still won't give up publicly showing that WWE is distasteful.

Ric Flair Possibly Quitting WWE Over Politics Story By: Ben Johnson August 03, 2002
The following is from The Charlotte Observer:
There could be an interesting N.C. governor's race in two years. Ric "Nature Boy" Flair is thinking of throwing his body into the governor's mansion.
As a Republican.
The last time he thought about running, in 2002, it was as an independent. Flair, a wrestler, might have trouble getting out of Mecklenburg County, however. He's heard Mayor Pat McCrory is thinking about a run, as has former Mayor Richard Vinroot.
"I've heard both McCrory and Richard Vinroot are talking about it," Flair said this week. "But I think I would have a good following and could run with anybody."
Vinroot has lost two statewide races. McCrory is quick on his feet, but he doesn't have a signature "Whoooooo" like Flair.
Can Flair win?
"If I commit myself," Flair said. "That will be telling you I think I would beat (McCrory)."
Flair was seen on the big screen at Carolina Hurricane games this season leading cheers. Given the track record of Charlotte politicians statewide, he's better off with fans thinking he is from Raleigh.
Flair said he has been up to talk to Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura, a former wrestler, about running a state. "You are always working on the affairs of state," he said. "It's a 10-hour-a-day job."
Flair said he would have a bigger audience than Ventura, because wrestling is bigger in North Carolina than in Minnesota. "Our demographics match up well with NASCAR."
Flair said his first move would be to build a toll road from Charlotte to Myrtle Beach. And he's pro lottery.
Flair said he has been approached by Republicans from both ends of the state, as well as Charlotte. He said the deciding factor will be his wife and two children.
